There is no question about the marvels of modern technology and innovative advancements that we continue to witness every year. However, with that being said, there are certain health risks that we need to become aware of, especially when it comes to our total screen time – meaning, we need to cut down the amount of time spent staring at our smartphones and tablets.

Your eyes are a delicate and one of the most vital components of your body and it is fairly easy to damage them today than it was ever before. If you’re experiencing headaches and watery eyes when using your smartphone or tablet or laptop or when you’re working on your laptop, you may very well be in need of glasses or contacts.

Eye glasses are dreaded by many. A majority of the people prefer wearing contacts. While contact lenses are growing in popularity, glasses have seen a decline in their demand as they are a victim of social stereotyping. .

There are countless tell tale signs that you need glasses, some of them are listed below:

1.    Headaches:

Headaches are a pretty common complaint in most people, and there are several reasons why this is true. It is important to differentiate between what headaches mean you have weak eyesight and what headaches simply mean you need to eat. If you experience headaches after reading a book or while you are working on your laptop, you need to get your eyesight checked right away. When you feel the need to puke while you’re watching television, your eyesight may have gotten a lot worse. There are headaches that last for hours when you have weak eyesight.

2.    Blurred Vision:

This can happen while you are trying to read or make out words reading a book or reading a sign post away. You might notice that the words are not clear and you cannot pronounce what they are simply because you can’t see them properly. To test yourself further, try using one eye at a time. In some cases, one of the eyes can experience a blurred vision while the other is fine.

3.    Tired Eyes and Focusing Difficulty:

After your usual chores, if you consistently experience pain in your eyes, you most definitely have weak eyesight. If your eyes can no longer focus on things properly, you need to get your eyesight checked pronto.

4.    Red Eyes:

This is a problem that takes shape when you’re either sleep deprived, have an infection or if you’ve injured your eye. However, if you’re continuously experiencing red eyes, it might be the result of deteriorating eyesight. Red eyes are a dangerous sign and can cause a lot of pain as well.

5.    Poor Nightvision

If you are taking a walk at night and you discover that you cannot see properly, you might be experiencing something called an early cataract. What this does is gradually envelope your eye, causing you to see poorly and there are cases where people have temporarily gone blind.
