Dr. Craig McQueen graduated as the Gold medal winner at the University of Waterloo in 1973. Following a residency at the U of W, Dr. McQueen opened a full service practice in south Edmonton. The practice grew over the next 13 years. During this period, he was elected to the Council of the Alberta Association of Optometrists and served as its President for two terms. In 1986, he received the first President’s Award “for service to the people of Alberta and the Profession of Optometry”. In 1987, Dr. McQueen sold his practice to Dr. Jerry Berg (Total Focus Family Optometry) and moved to Brandon, Manitoba, purchasing his father’s Optometry practice, and continuing his involvement with Manitoba’s Optometric governance. The practice continued to grow under Dr. McQueen’s management until it was sold in 2005 to allow Dr. McQueen to return to Edmonton.
Dr. McQueen entered Total Focus Optometry in June of 2005, as the Optometrist managing the daily practice and Human Resources. Dr. McQueen maintains his volunteer work with the Alberta College of Optometrists as the Hearings Director and is Treasurer of the Edmonton Society of Optometrists. He is the Continuing Optometric Education chair of the 2013 Congress of the Canadian Association of Optometrists.
